I'd write a longer review, but I just finished the game with ending 12 and I'm still trying to get over how good it is sorry.

Might come later once I've settled down to write a comprehensive review, but honestly, I'll probably be too busy completing the rest of the game to do that.

Undoubtedly one of the best games I've ever played, period. A joy from start to finish.

I just started the game but am stuck in the main menu. None of the buttons for my only save slot to set difficulty/settings/etc actually work, and when I select that load slot, the page doesn't update/change with any buttons/links that actually take me to the game itself. What steps am I missing to actually start a new game with my chosen save slot?

Hi Paulineugalde, I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble starting the game! If you email me on adam.ryncraft@gmail.com, I can work through some troubleshooting options for you, and see if we can get you started.

This is one of the few things I'm still hyper fixated on, made me feel inclined to write my own playthrough as a way to keep up with the plot (and add some personal flair and head cannons).

It also encouraged me to learn a bit about twine, writing styles and making impactful characters in narratives.

Thank you so much for making this game, the music is one of the few things that helps me feel both relaxed and hyped at the same time.

crying like a baby. I became waaaaaayyyyy too emotionally attached to Esra. I want to get more endings, but I can't get myself to hurt anyone.

(+4)

i'm absolutely inconsolable right now and it is ENTIRELY your fault

all jokes aside though, this is genuinely a masterpiece! i completed all 15 endings on normal in 6 hours (as well as got every achievement bar the hardmode one, entire-game ones, talk option one, and kill option ones), and it was an absolute blast the entire time. i'm gonna finish up the last achievements someday, but reading 200k+ words is a lot so i think i'll maybe update this one last time with that when it happens :P

my one regret is that i got ending 12 first - it naturally feels like it's supposed to be an out of the way one, but i'm a naturally stubborn and determined person so it ended up being the first one i got. i'm absolutely certain that if i'd walked through all of them sequentially, i'd have probably genuinely cried at the end (and i'm chronically emotionally constipated- that's a real feat.)

another game i love (metaware high school (demo)) has one true ending whose impact is fulfilled much more by the generally-fluffy sub-endings alongside it, and while i know that having ending 12 be inaccessible unless all others were completed would be a HUGE drag... hey, i wouldn't be complaining if there was another one added :P!

every ending seems genuinely fulfilling, though, and that's incredibly impressive. not only are they all somewhat hopeful, the message of the game speaks to the never-ending spirit of life (human or otherwise): no matter which ending you get, the plot feels like it's resolved properly. that's really hard to do, from what i can tell, and it's really refreshing when sometimes there's VNs or interactive fiction games whose endings tend towards being "whatever immediately makes sense" - they can be great fun with fluffy stuff, but tend to lose out a bit on the nuance. this game DOESN'T do that, and it's extremely coherent as a result, i think!

plus, you've done an excellent job with every emotional beat - it's only due to meta knowledge that i was able to avoid a likely Bad End in the Gaslight Gatekeep Girlboss section, and it was still a crapshoot if i'll be honest. and the description of reactions to traumatic events, emotional digestion, and coping mechanisms is extremely on point with how i'd react personally - i might actually take inspiration or reference for my own writing because it's sorta sparked some ideas in my head.

also trigaea is just incredibly technically impressive - i'm starting out with twine (or i was a few months ago) and i genuinely couldn't imagine how to format most of the things you've done - let alone implement them in a way which is even remotely optimized or reasonable for a janky 2012 laptop to run.

genuinely one of the best games i've played, on top with hacknet and MWHS(D). kudos to your technical skill with coding, game design, and emotional storytelling; your mechanical skill with art, graphic design, and writing, and your empowering model of the world's core issues. you have at least one machine believing in you now!

INCREDIBLE. Definitely try this out!

Ohh my gosh. What an incredible game!! What delightful characters, what a complex and beautiful world. When I started idly browsing the playable-online itch games while procrastinating, I was not expecting to find a game that would completely suck me in for the next two days! I've been delaying studying for an exam but I can't bring myself to regret it at all. Easily one of the most compelling storylines in any game I've played in a long time!

(MILD SPOILERS FOR THE ENDINGS MAYBE? idk, better safe than sorry)

I got ending 11-1 the first time around. I was vibrating with anticipation as soon as I saw the 'reading' option, but I didn't quite figure out where to go from there and just... went to bed haha. A look through the comments led me to ending 12 though! I'll have to check out the other endings soon :D

RynGM, thank you so much for sharing this game! And for free, no less! If you ever decide to charge for this game or any other, I'll happily throw money at you, but in the meantime: thank you thank you thank you!

(+2)

This game is a true masterpiece!

Thank you very much RynGM!

(+1)

this game made me tear up lmao. I did all the endings...Yeah, I won't tell you the details, play the game yourself. It's excellent.

(+2)

I never really leave reviews at all. I binged this in one sitting. I had no life. This is one of the most well-written and emotionally-inducing games I have played in a very long time. Incredibly amazing game, I am tearing up writing this because I just got done unlocking all 15 endings. I am emotionally destroyed. Haven't cried over a game in a very long time. Ash will have my heart and so will Esra. I guess throughout all that time I was hoping, somehow, ash became Esra and was looking out for the reader that way. But that will only be in my dreams. Overall 1000/100 recommend playing this.

(+1)

Incredibly good game, well written, just delightful - and the final choice was so hard! Will be recommending to all my friends - you should be very proud of your work <3

(+2)

Dude. DUDE! Put this up on steam and CHARGE FOR IT! I don't normally leave comments like this cuz things you can get free aren't big but this was amazing. I spent 2 days straight playing through the first ending. Theres so much work out into this and its great. My only criticism is there seems to be a bug that randomly changes names and gender pronouns as you play before switching to the correct one. But seriously, put it on steam and charge money. You deserve it.

(+1)

This is honestly one of the best games I've ever played, in any genre. Especially in the sense of storytelling. I appreciate the fact that you made it free because I am a broke teenager lol. But in case I get a job anytime soon, do you have a patreon or something similar?

(+2)

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. :) I don't have a patreon, I get paid in nice comments like these!

This quality of work for the price of FREE??? There's so much love and passion going into this and it shows. There are so many interesting concepts to be explored in sci-fi and how ethics and philosophy fit into it--definitely kept me pondering with all the conversations. Haven't gotten all the endings yet but damn, humanity sucks lol

Would there have been no way to ever negotiate peace between the 3 factions? Being a Collector and having helped all 3 factions, wouldn't it be possible to eventually bring all three to some kind of common ground or shared benefits?

(+1)

Maybe try refusing to help any of the individual groups. See what happens next.

(+1)

I hate reading,
but I loved this game.
Go play it.
Now.

(+2)

UPDATE TWO DAYS AGO? I KNOW I HAVE ALREADY LEFT COMMENTS, REVIEWS AND ON ANOTHER GAME OF YOURS TOO BUT NOW I GOTTA PLAY AGAIN AND SOMEONE SAID NEW MEMORIES??? GOTTA PLAY GOTTA PLAY AGAIN OK I KNOW WHAT I'M DOING TODAY

It's all part of my evil plan! :D

It is very clever haha!

(+1)

I'm loving these new memories.

(1 edit)

does the trophy for "unlock all endings to Trigaea" require bad endings too? because I have 100% the ending screen and I have not received that trophy.

I also did not get the trophy for "get all optional memories using the progenitor" even though I have gone through endings that require me to do so already.

Hey A-wq! No, the achievement does not require bad endings. Can you save your game to disk and send it to me on adam.ryncraft@gmail.com? That way I can take a look under the hood and see what's going on. Apologies for the issue!

(1 edit)

So i uh deleted the save files with the delete all button a few hour ago since i plan on running hard without new game+ and didn't think the save files are needed and the most recent "download to disk" save that i did was before the update.

Can I random save a run and send to you or do i need to get to a certain point then do that?

I'm not sure how the save system work so i don't know what i suppose to do.

If you shoot me an email, we can chat it out! :) Debugging via the comments section is going to leave a massive thread.

(+1)

never have finished it but love it and how lovingly accessible with a screen reader this is. omg. something i can pickup and play without modding. earthstone stardew valley and others i am looking at you!

(+1)

this needs to be a fully 3d game

(+8)

As others have said, this game absolutely slaps. Adam Ipsen, you sir, are a legend.

(+8)

WHAT THE FUCK HOW IS THIS GAME FREE

Ur a beast, great job.

(+5)

Made an account just to say how great this game is.
I'd say the story was fab aaand never too... much, as in it never felt like overwhelming walls of text but a good chunky story and a complelling mystery. Great sci-fi world and great creatures.
The ability to build your character in different, weird ways was great. The relationships and tricky decisions were compelling.
Thanks so much for that.

(+1)

(too long, couldn't stop myself lol)

Probably the third person to make an account just to comment on this, but after finishing the game, I just had to do it.

The story was absolute bangers, the blend between the emotional parts and other things was something I enjoyed a crap ton, and the ending I got (12) really got me, which not many pieces of media(of any sort) manage to do. I loved learning about the world, and I especially liked the small details, like why the Ru'ul first seemed to know us, which gets explained later on, and other stuff.

The only few gripes I had about the game were few- in some story battles, even after choosing a different option, the end scenario reverses to me being lethal, and the roguelike element got a bit grindy, but that could just be me playing safe.

All in all, 9.5/10 game and 10/10 story, hope the author is working on something else(or adding more content to this one!)

(+2)

cried over this my god. SUCH a good game, love it <33

(+2)

Damn. You fucking nailed it with this game. Just finished after 3 days of obsessively playing it. Some really classic enjoyable scifi stuff going on here. The best moments I think were just all the character building and relationships and piecing together the mystery. So much fun!!! Also really great audio!

(+2)

This game will make you feel love, anger, sadness, grief, and so many other complex emotions. I played to the end, mine was Ending 5, which I was happy with. I thought that it was beautiful that Ash, in a way, kept me alive through Esra & Gabriel. This game has definitely given me a lot to think about and will definitely stick in my mind for quite a long time. 10/10 a beautiful game!

(+2)

I finally got all 12 endings. I couldn't stop until I did. Such a beautiful piece of writing, I couldn't stop trying to solve the mysteries of where Ash and Leon were. Like everyone else, I'm having an existential crisis. It was exactly the immersive experience I was hoping for. Just in love with the world of Trigaea, I can't say it enough. Thank you <3

(+1)

Ight just like the other person in the comments I simply had to make an account to say how great this game is. Just finished it like an hour and a half ago and I'm still weaving in and out of an existential crisis from the endings I got after refusing to accept the one I first got. Love it when a work can do that to me. If you're reading this, Ryn, I'm really hoping you're still working on that 1.2 version, also hoping this blows up more, it really deserves it. I was intrigued and excited to learn more of the story, characters and setting the entire way through. Spoiler warning for this next bit. The fact the whole books being incorrect bit was foreshadowed way back and I had an actual flashback to it irl tipping me off to what was happening near the ending I got was pure genius, I'm glad you didn't do an in game flashback and instead chose to reward players for paying attention throughout the game like this. 9/10 only because I've yet to find a way to marry Esra.

(+9)

Made an itch account just to tell people to try this game, it's worth your time!

(2 edits) (+1)

Oh wow, I really appreciate you going to that effort! <3

(+3)

Amazing game! SPOILERS AHEAD: I chose the alien people. I mean, if I chose humans then that'd just be colonising all over again! I forgot to save at some of the points so I likely won't get all the endings, but i'm happy of which ones I achieved.

(+1)

I've completed it finally! This game is seriously amazing!

(+4)

i like how an ending mindfucked me. It's amazing

(+4)

Yeah... This is one of my new favorite games. My heart is just the right amount of broken. Amazing work and thank you for making this!

(3 edits)

I back, I'm wondering if anyone knows of any books/novels I can read that are similar to this game? Especially with similar themes of morals/ethics, psychological conflict, and maybe even loss

Bonus points if they're not YA, but if they are thats cool too!

(6 edits) (+4)

The Value of Life ending could not have been a more satisfying ending after the emotional turmoil every plot twist spat at me, my goodness my heart hurts after it all

A bit of me wishes there was a sequel, just so I get to experience a nicer life with Ash 😭

Such a beautiful game, I've never read or played through a story that messed with my psychology so much (in the best way possible)! Now I'll be looking forever for another that has me so conflicted and engaged, i loved every bit of Trigaea!

(+2)

This was such a wonderful experience.  The backgrounds and music served to make this so much more immersive, and the story this game tells is one that I know will stick with me for a long time.

(+2)

i apologise that i don't have much to say, but i adored this so much---i haven't picked up a book in so long and this was a delightfully evocative experience (the wonders of interactive fiction... i should really do something about my attention span). my heart is absolutely shattered, thank you for creating this

Where are all of my chips going?? I keep defeating enemies without killing them and that gives me extra undamaged chips, but I can never find them back anywhere... I don't carry them with me, and I can't find them in the Progenitor... sorry if I'm missing something or calculated wrongly, but where are my chips??

(1 edit)

You're not crazy! Some people have reported this bug, and I've been trying to reproduce it. It's likely the bonus nonlethal chips for some forms of takedown aren't being added behind the scenes - apologies for the inconvenience. :(

(+1)

Don't worry about it! At least I know that I'm not crazy, and that was the most important thing to know for me ^^ Thank you so much for your reply, and you just take all the time you need :D Thank you so much for the reply and reassurance, I really thought I was missing something, haha! Anyways thanks again ^^ Sorry if I came across as mean, I never mean any disrespect towards game creators, because I don't even know how hard they work, but I try to respect them :)

I hope you have an awesome day :D

Also, sorry I don't mean to spam, but there might be another bug. Sorry for not using the bug report in the game, but my email adress is the personal one and I don't feel comfy with that.
To make a long story short I also notice that when I have for example, 6 damage taken, and my nanofiber skin takes 10 of it, shouldn't I not be damaged at all? Insead, I do lose HP. Is this intentional? It's just I notice that when my defense prevents more damage than the attack does, I still get damage.

Thanks again, I'm really sorry again! I hope you have an awesome day :)

This had me on the edge of my seat for a text adventure!

I have yet to get all the endings yet, but I got a few variants of ending 11 as well as ending 1 and 10. First off, you did an amazing job making this story feel so immersive. The writing is well done and pulls you in. The selection of music and background images really added to the immersion without taking too much away from the imagination, it really just helped to enhance it. Choices definitely were hard! I got a couple death ends before I got to any proper ending. My first real ending was "Butterfly Dream", imagine my shock when I looked at other variants hahaha. The characters and the world were also really interesting, and I absolutely loved Esra! He's just so lively and supportive and the banter with him is always so fun (looking forward to the update with more Esra banter). I also adored the combat system. It was simple, yet also really fun! Being able to add upgrades to give you more of an edge in battle was cool, and I also liked how you slowly progressed to unlock your memories, even minor ones. This game had so many choice dilemmas and made you feel all sorts of emotions; happiness, sadness, laughter, anger, shock, confusion, etc. There was obviously a lot of love put into this story. It felt like a professional novel to me, and I love how it goes to show you that a good narrative is just as strong and immersive as any other video game out there with fancy visuals and complex mechanics. Character customization was simple, but appreciated!

Any possible nitpicks? Some come down to personal opinion and taste, so no need to mention those. On a technical aspect, I did notice some typos scattered around here and there (but being a 200k novel it's understandable), as well as sometimes certain characters being incorrectly referred to as 'she' when they're male. Again, with a game this massive, I can understand the errors, since whether or not they are a he or she depends on your choices. MC seemed not to have any incorrect referrals (I played female). Also, when this huge robot was coming to attack your base (a boss battle forgot what it's called but the x’irii siblings are with you when this happens), in the battle I managed to heal it of the virus, but after the battle (I guess this is locked into the plot?) the robot is taken down and destroyed instead. Would've been nice to have alternate text of the robot going along its way (I try to save as many as I can).

Overall, a fantastic story and I look forward to see what's new in store with the update, or anything else you might have in store ^^

(A bit spoilery but...

The section of the game where you had to shut down the A.I with the virus was seriously creepy! Really well done. It really made you question the MC's sanity or whether or not she had gotten infected due to being in a robot body. Truly some good atmospheric horror there!)

(+1)

i liked how that part also served as foreshadowing

(+1)

Have to say, wonderful game. I got ending 7 on my first playthrough. Humanity First!
